Nimotalai Azeez serves as Budget and Data Analyst for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Operations and Infrastructure within DC Government. Before this role, she completed the Capital City Fellows Program as an analyst in the Mayor’s budget office. Agencies under her purview included the DC Department of Transportation, WMATA, the DC Department of For-Hire Vehicles, and independent public safety and justice agencies. During her first rotation in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education, she worked on safety and transportation initiatives for students, such as Safe Passage to School and Kids Ride Free. Before the fellowship, Nimotalai worked as a Program Associate at Smart Growth America, where she guided local, regional, and state governments on Complete Streets policy development and implementation.
Nimotalai is passionate about providing accessible transportation options to everyone regardless of race, age, income, or physical ability. Nimotalai spent most of her life in the Seattle area and currently resides in Ward 5. She received a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University and a bachelor’s degree in Community, Environment, and Planning from the University of Washington.
